Repeat prescriptions

Patients on long-term medication may request repeat prescriptions with the consent of their doctor.  This can be done in person, by post, via a chemist of your choice or by using our on line service.  You will need to register with us in order to have gain access to the on line service and this is best done in person at reception.  Prescriptions take three working days to process, so please ensure that you allow plenty of time to request your medication before it runs out.

We are keen to ensure that patients with ongoing medical problems are monitored regularly. If the date for your next review with a doctor or nurse has passed you will be asked to make an appointment. This will be indicated on the repeat side of your prescription. It is very important you make an appointment when indicated to do so as this is an important part of the ensuring that your repeat medicine is prescribed safely and monitored.

For patients who are stable on repeat medicines there is now a facility called ‘repeat dispensing’ where the patient can obtain repeats of their medicines straight form the pharmacist. If this interests you please make an appointment with your doctor.

On-line Repeat prescription requests; We are now offering this service, you can use it in the same way as the online appointments. Please be aware that only current aurthorised repeat medicines can be requested and we still need 3 working days to generate the prescription. If the medicine you require is not currently aurthorised then you will need to come in and see a doctor.

Please can we remind patients that by indicating on the repeat prescription if you wish your prescription to go direct to  Boots, or many other pharmacies in the area it can be picked up from the Pharmacy of your choice saving time and congestion. Please contact Reception to find out which local pharmacies are available for this service.
