Befriending and Visiting Service – Volunteers are required to befriend older residents in the Guildford Area. Befriending involves listening or telephoning an isolated, older person once a week to chat, listen and become a companion. Volunteers might natter over a cuppa, share a game or watch TV with the person they visit – or simply ring for a chat. There will be full training which will look at topics such as listening skills, confidentiality and staying safe. The training will be run over two half days. No experience necessary. All that is asked is that you are reliable, sensitive and a good listener. References and CRB clearance will be required. All expenses reimbursed for more information please contact Lindsey Carpenter at the Riverside Centre on 01483-514473 or email@example.com if you can help.
